10 billion dollars of new digital communications infrastructure M&A reported in February by investment news service TMT Finance News Americas

NEW YORK, March 12, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The growing demand for data and a shortage of infrastructure assets has seen 10 billion dollars of new digital communications infrastructure mergers and acquisitions in February, with deals involving Cyxtera, Telefonica, Conterra Networks, Morgan Stanley and Evolve being revealed by new investment news service TMT Finance News Americas in its first month of launch.

With the demand in digital communications infrastructure across North and South America intensifying, TMT Finance predicts increasing investment and consolidation between cloud, data center and infrastructure owners. Operators will also be looking to significantly expand their fiber network and 5G capabilities, as well as initiate further carve-outs of infrastructure assets including wireless cell towers, fixed networks and data centres, to monetize and boost their edge computing presence in enterprise markets.

Recent exclusives by TMT Finance substantiate this growth, with the news that Morgan Stanley has been hired to explore options by datacenter company Cyxtera Technologies, while Millicom has made a US$1.65bn bid to acquire Telefónica’s mobile telecommunications assets in Latin America and is also exploring options to sell other assets in the region.

There is also continued European interest in funding US infrastructure networks with EQT, Antin and others hunting for opportunities, while the US$750m ongoing sale process of Court Square Capital’s US fibre company Conterra Networks continues to draw interest from potential acquirers looking to capitalise on infrastructure expansion plans.

Leading investors and operators from across the US will soon be gathering in New York on April 11, to discuss the current trends and opportunities in investing in digital communications infrastructure at TMT M&A Forum USA 2019.

The event, sponsored by Bank Street Group, Santander, Tillman Infrastructure and MVP Capital, offers more than 250 M&A professionals the opportunity to engage with leading figureheads and discuss infrastructure, 5G investment, M&A strategy and changing trends including panels discussing how to establish a new generation of infrastructure and ways to invest in new infrastructure to deliver 5G.
