Helix Semiconductors CEO to Present at APEC 2019

Industry Session to Spotlight Technology that Enables Smaller, Lighter and More Efficient Power Supply Modules

ANAHEIM, Calif., March 14, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Booth #472 – Next week at the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC), Harold A. Blomquist, president and CEO of fabless power semiconductor company Helix Semiconductors, will deliver a presentation titled “Fulfilling the Vision of Transformerless Conversion.” Part of APEC’s Industry Session on “Components,” Blomquist’s presentation will take place on Thursday, March 21 at 1:45 p.m. in room 210A of the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. He will be joined by Randy Sandusky, Helix Semiconductors CTO, who is one of the inventors of the technology enabling the fulfillment of the vision.

With the number of powered devices reaching unprecedented levels, there is a growing strain on the world’s power grids. Add in the fact that global initiatives for more efficient power supplies have been enacted by multiple government entities, and the need for a better approach to the power supply conundrum has reached critical mass. Blomquist’s presentation will describe how engineers designing power systems can reduce energy waste and create products that are smaller, cooler and lighter. The presentation will show measured results of extraordinary, efficient improvements through the use of unique, patented technology that enables elimination of transformers from the equation.

“The problems presented by transformers are not new, and the industry has been trying to make power supplies smaller and more efficient for some time now,” noted Blomquist. “Getting the maximum amount of power in the smallest space possible is the key to a new way of powering the world – and I will be discussing how to do just that, and more, during my industry session.”

Using unique, UL-approved capacitor-based topologies provides safety-rated isolation without a transformer, providing safe and proper voltage and power at the point of load with no windings-based conversion in the system. Helix Semiconductors' patented MuxCap™ and CapIso™ technologies, and UL-approved reference designs, are the secret to a windings-free approach.

In addition to Blomquist’s presentation, Helix Semiconductors will deliver another presentation titled “Realizing a Transformerless Future” on Wednesday, March 20 at 11:15 a.m. in Theatre 1 of the exhibit hall show floor in the Anaheim Convention Center. This session will provide insight into how the company’s MxC® 200 and MxC 300 family of products enable a transformerless future. Also at APEC, Helix Semiconductors will show evaluation boards of its MxC 300 chipset at their booth #472 on the show floor.
