BOSTON, March 27, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Advanced Cyber Security Center (ACSC) today announced that Rick Grinnell, John Letchford and Adeel Saeed were elected to the board of the nonprofit Advanced Cyber Security Center, bringing unique perspectives from their diverse experiences in venture capital, higher education and financial services. These new members further strengthen the board’s ability to support the ACSC’s collaborative defense program, including its regional public-private exercise, the second annual Collaborative Defense Simulation, to be held later this year.

Rick Grinnell is a Founder and Managing Partner at Glasswing Ventures. He is a venture capitalist focused on AI-enabled software, particularly security. Grinnell has over 19 years of experience and has invested in some of the most dynamic companies in security. He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and his MBA from Harvard Business School.

John Letchford is currently the University System CIO at University of Massachusetts, responsible for managing and securing the extensive distributed IT infrastructure. He also previously worked as CIO for MIT Sloan School of Management, and Senior Strategist for Tufts University. Letchford served the public sector for nine years, including the lead IT role as CIO for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 2010 to 2013. Before that, Letchford worked with Procter and Gamble for nine years. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Exeter, and a Master’s degree in Information Technology from the University of York.

“Adding three seasoned executives to the ACSC board who together represent the full cybersecurity spectrum from strategic executive decision-makers to emerging startup companies provides greater depth in directing our collaborative defense program,” said Michael Figueroa, Executive Director of the ACSC. “Adeel, John, and Rick are all well-respected leaders and will be invaluable contributors to the Advanced Cyber Security Center mission.”

Bill Guenther, ACSC Chairman, added, “I am pleased to welcome Rick, John and Adeel to the ACSC board. As long-time IT and cybersecurity experts, they know the value to organizations of a collaborative approach to managing cybersecurity resilience. I look forward to their support as we engage with the public and private sectors to identify and develop strategies to address large-scale cyber threats.”

About the Advanced Cyber Security Center
The Advanced Cyber Security Center (ACSC) is a member-led nonprofit that organizes the private and public sectors to operationalize collaborative defense, strengthening each member’s cybersecurity posture and preparing the region’s response to large-scale cyber threats. As a leading federally-registered regional Information Sharing and Analysis Organization (ISAO), the ACSC serves as a security community hub that encourages cross-sector collaboration and promotes effective practices to help organizations strengthen their own cyber defense. At the same time, the ACSC deepens the capacity of the broader cyber community by enabling organizations to collectively address common problems, reduce duplicative effort, and establish a new baseline for security across Massachusetts and New England.
