Golden Corral Announces Annual Fundraising Goal of $2.5 Million to Benefit Our Nation’s Military Families

Proceeds help fund summer camp for children of wounded, injured, ill or fallen veterans

Raleigh, N.C., March 27, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- To celebrate the ninth year of its annual fundraiser for Camp Corral, as well as its unique relationship with the nonprofit, Golden Corral dramatically increased the total fundraising goal for this year by approximately $1 million. The fundraiser runs from April 1 to June 2 throughout its nearly 500 restaurants nationwide. Camp Corral is a nonprofit founded initially by Golden Corral that provides a free week of camp for children of wounded, injured, ill or fallen military service members.

“We are passionate about supporting our nation’s military families,” said Lance Trenary, president and CEO of Golden Corral and chairman of the board for Camp Corral. “We are indebted to our military for the sacrifices they have made so that we may enjoy incredible freedoms. We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to the men and women of our military and their families who have given so much for us.”

This year interested guests can participate through the purchase of a $1 or $5 Camp Corral star to be displayed within the restaurant. Guests who purchase a $5 star will receive a coupon for a free Gold Peak fountain beverage on their next visit. Restaurants will also continue to host local raffles, bake sales and golf tournaments in select markets to raise additional funds.

Additionally, guests have an exciting new option to donate through text. Guests can simply text “Donate” to 919-373-6604 to receive an automated response that includes a link to Camp Corral’s website. Donations can be made at all restaurant locations, on Golden Corral’s website and social media platforms.

“We couldn’t ask for a better partner than Golden Corral. Their continued support helped us tremendously over the years, and continues to do so,” said Leigh Longino, CEO of Camp Corral. “Because of the leadership and generosity of their employees and customers, we’ve been able to provide a fun and supportive camp experience to more than 21,000 deserving military children around the country free of charge.”

Camp Corral provides kids, ages 8 to 15, with a free week of overnight summer camp where they are free to escape the everyday challenges they face as military children. Camp Corral partners with camps accredited by the American Camp Association across the nation with 19 camps in 17 states scheduled for summer 2019. Last summer, Camp Corral served more than 3,700 campers. Golden Corral is a long-standing supporter of American veterans and founded Camp Corral in 2011. Since then, Golden Corral helped raise more than $11 million for Camp Corral.

Golden Corral encourages the public to visit one of its restaurants during the campaign to make a donation to support this important program. Contributions to Camp Corral can also be made directly on the organization’s website or mailed to the Camp Corral office located at 801 N. West Street, Raleigh North Carolina 27603.
