SmashFly Teams Up with Google Cloud and Cox Enterprises to Deliver AI-Driven Job Search by Commute and 100+ Languages

Updated Functionality Helps Employers Reach More Job Seekers and Hire More Inclusively

CONCORD, Mass., March 28, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Enterprise recruitment marketing technology leader SmashFly Technologies today shared details of its recent collaboration with Google Cloud and Cox Enterprises, bringing increased functionality into the Google Cloud Talent Solution job search API, including the ability to search for jobs based on commute time via walking, biking and traffic patterns.

Inspired by research studies with clients and users, these updates account for job seeker preferences as well as today’s hiring needs. After careful analysis of job search behaviors, the new functionality adds to the existing features, to help employers reach more job seekers and hire more inclusively.

Using commute search, candidates can now filter by walking and cycling in addition to the existing driving and public transit options. Google points out that in metropolitan areas such as Barcelona, it is common to walk to the office, while in Copenhagen, some 41 percent of commuters will bike to work.

In addition, the new functionality also accounts for job searches in more than 100 different languages by returning relevant postings, including those written in English. In doing so, employers and job sites ensure that job postings reach more users, without deterring anyone based on language.

SmashFly, which helps power Cox Enterprises’ internal and external career sites, supported Google Cloud by integrating these updates into its efforts.

“For more than 120 years, Cox has had a purposeful commitment to its employees and the communities where we live and work,” said Adam Glassman, Senior Manager of Employment Branding. “One of the ways the company lives those values is by building a diverse workforce and by creating an inclusive environment. This includes embracing the unique talents of people with a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and needs. We’re happy to be a Google Cloud Talent Solution partner and expect that these enhancements will open up our amazing company to a wider group of candidates, no matter how they chose to commute or what language they use to search.”

“SmashFly was founded to achieve a very simple mission: To fundamentally change how companies connect with talent,” Thom Kenney, CEO at SmashFly said. “We believe that Google Cloud Talent Solution helps us continue that mission, bringing machine learning to job search to truly transform the candidate experience for our clients. Google’s been a fantastic partner, and we’re thrilled to continuously add new features, like commute search and military occupational code translation. We look forward to sharing this advanced functionality with more employers and job seekers.”
