Boston TechJam Returns to City Hall Plaza for 7th Annual Innovation Celebration

Largest Regional Technology Festival to Celebrate Region’s Inclusive Tech Ecosystem & Culture

BOSTON, March 28, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On June 13, 2019, Boston TechJam, a celebration of the New England- and Boston-area technology ecosystem and culture, will return to City Hall Plaza. The community event, now in its seventh year, brings together workers from every part of the technology sector, entrepreneurs, startups, established tech companies, venture capitalists, non-profit organizations and higher learning institutions. Last year, 7,000 attendees came out for the tech block party, innovation showcase and live music.

"Boston TechJam is put on for the tech community by the tech community, and we’re so proud to be able to grow the event each year alongside all our partners and volunteers,” said Tom Hopcroft, CEO of MassTLC, organizer of the festival. “It’s a truly unique day of celebration and discovery for workers from every corner of the innovation economy and a platform for our local companies to show off their cultures and innovations. We can’t wait to bring everyone together again for #BTJ2019.”

The event is made possible by a team of dedicated volunteers and underwriters who contribute their time, ideas and financial support. This year, Boston TechJam is proud to announce that Hopper, Kronos Incorporated, MassMutual, Northeastern University, The Predictive Index, PTC, Spotify and Workhuman will be underwriting sponsors, and over 60 additional organizations from across Greater Boston’s diverse technology sectors have already signed on to exhibit. Additional sponsorship and exhibiting opportunities are still available.

Back for 2019 are “company bands” – live performances by bands comprised of members from local technology companies. The event will feature local craft beer, food truck fare and “street-festival”-type games and giveaways from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. The festival again features the Boston TechJam Battle of the Interns, a scavenger hunt across Boston for interns and co-ops presented by MassTLC with support from founding partner Kronos Incorporated.

“The Boston area is home to some of the country’s most innovative companies and thinkers,” said Jim Heppelmann, president and CEO of PTC. “As new residents of the Seaport Innovation District, we are especially excited to participate in this year’s celebration of the Boston tech community and look forward to having even more local PTC employees experience TechJam.”

Boston TechJam is led by MassTLC along with co-founders Christine Nolan, formerly of MassTLC, and Mark Lorion, MassTLC Board Trustee, and founding team members Dave Polcaro from East Coast Catalyst, Ben Maitland-Lewis from Pretty Instant, Dave Cutler from Influence Central and Sarah Babbitt from SHIFT Communications.
