Wall Street Rides FAR Co-Founder Bryan Harkins Honored for Philanthropy at Markets Choice Awards

Harkins, Executive Vice President at Cboe Global Markets, was recognized for his support for the Autism Science Foundation, for which the annual Wall Street Rides FAR cycling event he co-founded has raised over $1 million in just four years

New York, April 29, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Wall Street Rides FAR, an annual charity cycling event benefitting the Autism Science Foundation, today announced that co-founder Bryan Harkins was recognized for his philanthropic work at the Markets Choice Awards, a Markets Media-hosted ceremony recognizing industry leaders in institutional trading and technology.

Bryan, Executive Vice President and Co-Head of Markets Division at Cboe Global Markets, one of the world’s largest exchange holding companies, founded Wall Street Rides FAR along with his wife Melissa in 2015 with the goal of bringing the Wall Street community together to benefit autism research. The charity has continued to hit new fundraising records each year, raising over $350,000 last fall. In total, the charity has raised over $1 million in just four short years. The fifth annual Ride FAR will be held on October 5, 2019, at Saxon Woods Park in White Plains, NY.

“I’m honored to be recognized for our work to benefit autism research, and grateful for the incredible generosity displayed by the Wall Street community,” said Bryan. “This is a competitive industry, but when it comes to giving back to our communities, the gloves come off and there is an incredible spirit of giving. It is our privilege to know so many generous individuals, just as it is to support the vitally important work of the Autism Science Foundation.”

The Autism Science Foundation is a nonprofit corporation that supports autism research by providing funding and other assistance to scientists and organizations conducting, facilitating, publicizing and disseminating autism research. The organization also provides information about autism to the general public and serves to increase awareness of autism spectrum disorders and the needs of individuals and families affected by autism.

“In just a few short years, Bryan and Melissa have already made an indelible mark on the autism community,” said Alison Singer, Co-Founder and President of the Autism Science Foundations. “The Ride FAR has become one of the most anticipated events on our calendar each year, and it plays a major role in our mission to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by autism by supporting critical research and advocating for their needs. Bryan’s leadership has been instrumental, and we are thrilled to see him honored by his industry peers.”

This honor comes on the heels of Bryan and Melissa receiving the 2019 Caryn Schwartzman Spirit Award, the Autism Science Foundation’s annual award for family advocates who demonstrate considerable energy, tenacity and commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with autism.
