Xebec Provides Update on Asian Renewable Natural Gas Market

MONTREAL, April 29, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Xebec Adsorption Inc. (TSXV: XBC) (OTC: XEBEF) (“Xebec”), a global provider of renewable natural gas (RNG) solutions, is pleased to note that the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), announced a new initiative on March 1st 2019,  to use biogas to partially replace coal in rural areas.

China plans to produce 30 billion cubic meters of biogas from agricultural waste and manure by 2030, part of a wider measure to reduce the domestic coal consumption in rural regions by 50 megatonnes. In order to achieve this target, China will need to build approximately 3,000 to 4,000 upgrading facilities over the next 10 years, requiring investments of CDN$7 to 10 billion.

Xebec has been active in this developing market for over 10 years and is now adding several new facilities to its existing installations, which also serve as excellent reference sites for future customers. One example is a facility located in Malaysia that upgrades biogas from Palm Oil Mill Effluents (POME) into RNG using Xebec’s biogas upgrading system. The plant is in Sabah, a State of Malaysia located in the north eastern part of Borneo.

In China, Xebec is commissioning another upgrading system, specifically a Waste Water Treatment Plant in the City of Suzhou (Jiangsu Province). It processes 1250 NCMH of biogas from a mix of kitchen, landscaping and leachate waste into RNG which is injected as pure biomethane into the local town gas grid.

With plants operating in Korea, China, Malaysia, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Canada and the United States, Xebec is proud to play an ever bigger  part in helping to decarbonize our future through renewable gases while providing a revenue source for end users such as gas utilities and the public sector.

Quotes:
"The market conditions for renewable natural gas and hydrogen purification equipment remain strong across all our operating geographies, but China offers unique opportunities given the government’s aggressive renewable energy targets. Xebec China is well established and is becoming a key contributor in both the hydrogen and RNG space."
Kurt Sorschak, President and CEO, Xebec Adsorption Inc.
