Mass Innovation Nights Hosts Third Annual African & African-American Founders Event at Greater Grove Hall


BOSTON, April 29, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On Thursday, May 9, 2019, Mass Innovation Nights, Massachusetts’ leading monthly new product showcase, will host its new product event with Greater Grove Hall Main Streets. The event will feature tech businesses led by African and African-American founders. MIN 122 is the third annual event, hosted and sponsored by Greater Grove Hall Main Streets. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.  

“According to CB Insights, fewer than 1 percent of all venture-backed tech companies are founded by African-Americans. This event lets people see the range of innovations these role models are developing in the STEM space. Starting tech companies is one way to revitalize the community, shrink the wealth gap, while mitigating gentrification,” said Ed Gaskin, executive director, Greater Grove Hall Main Streets.

“Over the last ten years, Innovation Nights events have featured more than 1200 new products,” said Bobbie Carlton, the founder of Innovation Nights and Innovation Women. “Our events are designed to connect startups with the local community, to the benefit of all.”

Mass Innovation Nights events feature business experts, networking, tabletop demos and presentations from local startups. Participating startups this month include:
