Retail Pro International and VTEX® Launch Integrated, Agile Digital Commerce Offering

VTEX Digital Commerce Platform Natively Integrates with Retail Pro to Allow Retailers to Continuously Evolve Their Unified Commerce Customer Experience

FOLSOM, CA, May 07, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Retail Pro International, a global leader in point-of-sale and retail management software, is pleased to announce the availability of VTEX’s True Cloud Commerce™ as part of a comprehensive, new unified commerce offering. The solution has been created in partnership with VTEX, which is the platform of choice for numerous midsized and enterprise retailers and brands in over 30 countries, including Sony, Motorola, Staples, L’Oréal, Pandora and Invicta.

The new offering pairs comprehensive Retail Pro retail management solution for retailers who have a brick-and-mortar presence, with VTEX’s Cloud Commerce Platform for digital commerce. In its most recent report, industry analyst International Data Corporation (IDC) named VTEX a “Major Player” on the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide SaaS and Cloud-Enabled B2C Digital Commerce 2018 Vendor Assessment. Industry analysts such as IDC have ranked VTEX favorably due to the configurability of the platform and user experience, a seamless, password-free SmartCheckout™ experience, and its exceptionally agile development team. The company releases updates and new features to the platform and services continuously.

“Mid-market and enterprise retailers have really struggled over the past few years to find digital strategies and technologies that can keep up with the extraordinary pace of customer expectations,” said Kerry Lemos, CEO of Retail Pro International. “We have helped retailers build their vision across markets and countries, and with this new partnership commerce will truly have no borders with digital experience naturally folding into the enterprise instead of being treated as a separate retail arm. Customer experience and operational gains we are able to bring to our customers have some of the highest technology ROI this industry has seen.  Moreover, we are prepared to offer a path for online pure-play retailers to brick and mortar success.  Our goal in delivering a seamless offering together with VTEX — who is innovating at hyper speed — is to put our retailer clients comfortably in front of the consumer expectations across channels.”

“When you’re evolving quickly, it’s important to have a very strong foundation,” said Alex Soncini, VTEX North America GM. “There is a newer generation of solutions who market themselves as ‘built from the ground up” for both stores and online. But these technologies are miles wide and an inch deep. Retail Pro is not only miles deep, but they also support an incredible breadth of retail complexities across more than 130 countries and have been doing it for 30 years. Their team’s experience and worldwide presence are the perfect complement to our rapid expansion in the Americas, as well as globally.”

One of the most important considerations for Retail Pro in working more closely with a digital commerce platform was its team’s understanding of Retail Pro’s robust data structures and technology, according to Lemos. VTEX’s recent acquisition of UniteU Technologies, a US-based, Retail Pro digital commerce partner for 17 years, grafted a team of engineers into the VTEX family who understand Retail Pro at its deepest level. Over the last few months, the VTEX team has integrated Retail Pro, and several clients are in production and going live on the combined Retail Pro-VTEX offering over the coming weeks and months.

“The VTEX and Retail Pro systems already unify data and other disparate systems seamlessly, invisibly, and effortlessly around the needs of customers,” said Lemos. “We’re focusing next on new initiatives that will give our retailers even greater customer experience advantages. Features such as starting a cart online and finishing in-store, seamless buy-online-return-to-store workflows, and the ability to offer other advanced unified commerce scenarios are being developed to help them compete in and dominate their markets.”

Jordan Jewell, Research Manager for IDC's Digital Commerce and Enterprise Applications programs, tends to agree: “To succeed in the digital commerce landscape, retailers need to provide an excellent, customer-focused commerce experience throughout a buyer’s journey. To do this, merchants must be able to keep track of their customers’ data across channels and personalize the buying experience accordingly. This partnership solidifies VTEX and Retail Pro’s US and global footprints and will help their joint customers succeed in the digital commerce market by providing excellent commerce experiences.”
