Envistacom to Support the Assessment of the Cyber Posture and Interoperability of the NC3 Network

Company leveraging their experience with DOT&E cyber assessment program to support Cyber Analytics Systems Threat Lab Environments 2 (CASTLE2) Task Order 20

Baltimore, MD, May 14, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --  Envistacom, a defense contractor providing cybersecurity and communications solutions for the Department of Defense, today announced during AFCEA TechNet Cyber 2019 that it has been named a sub-contractor on the Threat Systems Management Office (TSMO)  Cyber Analytics Systems Threat Lab Environments 2 (CASTLE2) Task Order 20 to support the Director, Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E) assessment program.

Envistacom will provide engineering, test and evaluation, and management support to the Threat Systems Management Office, specifically the threat and information operations network. The contract timeframe is from January 18, 2019, to January 18, 2020, with a budget of nearly $1M.

The task order stems from the 2003 congressional mandate in which the DOT&E was charged to assess the cyber posture and interoperability of combatant commands and services. Specifically, the nuclear command, control and communications systems network (NC3) was found to be in need of a major refresh in order to protect against existing and emerging threats. Envistacom representatives have been part of the DOT&E cyber assessment program since the inception of the mandate in 2003, making them the ideal participant in the task order. All told, the company will leverage 35 years of combined participation in the program– a testament to the qualification of Envistacom’s cyber experts– to bolster these systems for success.

“The ability for our armed forces to securely communicate during a nuclear event is essential to our national security,” said Dr. Pete Dowdy, D.Sc., CAP, CEH, Sec+,  Sr. Director, Information Securityat Envistacom, “The Envistacom team is looking forward to evaluating the flexibility and resiliency of the NC3 Network and our recommendations will help guide our customer to a safer, more resilient, and more secure NC3 Network.”

Envistacom’s risk management framework and experience updating systems under the congressional mandate will ultimately lead to a stronger, more integrated infrastructure. The refresh of the network will be built with authority operations in mind from the start, and the company’s dedicated team members working on the project will ensure it drives safe, successful DOT&E operations for years to come.
