Center for Financial Services Innovation (CFSI) Changes Name to the Financial Health Network

New name signals organization’s expansion beyond financial services into adjacent industries that have a role in improving financial health for all

Chicago, May 15, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Center for Financial Services Innovation (CFSI), the leading authority on financial health, today announced that it has changed its name to the Financial Health Network. The new name reflects the organization’s ongoing emphasis on financial health and reinforces its commitment to support, connect, and advise companies in their efforts to improve the financial health of their customers, employees, and communities.

“From our roots as the champion of the unbanked to our role as the leading authority on financial health, we remain guided by the holistic financial needs of consumers,” said President and CEO Jennifer Tescher. “Today, we know that financial health relies on the coordinated and active support of organizations far beyond just those in financial services. The Financial Health Network name better reflects our work in connecting and equipping those groups to advance financial health.”

While the organization’s work will remain largely unchanged, the scope of industries it engages with will expand. Delivering meaningful and sustainable improvements to financial health requires the coordinated efforts of not only financial services providers, but also employers, colleges and universities, health care providers, and many others.

Tescher founded CFSI in 2004 to spotlight the needs of the millions of unbanked and underbanked people in the United States and to leverage new technologies to increase financial services access. Over the last several years, CFSI’s research revealed that millions of people struggle with spending, saving, borrowing and planning, even those with traditional banking relationships.

Today, the Financial Health Network serves more than 155 member organizations, including those from financial services, insurance, education, and other industries. Together, members reach over 200 million Americans, 80 million of whom are low-to-moderate income.

The organization also conducts research and analysis to better understand financial health, including the signature U.S. Financial Health Pulse, the first ever benchmarking study of its kind to gauge the consumer health of people living in America. The Financial Health Network provides consulting services and offers tools and benchmarks to help others measure, manage and improve financial health. Additionally, it has been a champion of innovation, most notably through the Financial Solutions Lab, a top fintech accelerator and innovation program.
