NorthStar Moving Honored by Move for Hunger

NorthStar Moving awarded Mover of the Month & 2018 Achievement Award for serving Californians facing hunger

Los Angeles, CA, May 20, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NorthStar Moving®, the leading eco-luxury mover in California, announced today that it was awarded the Move for Hunger 2018 Certificate of Achievement Award and Mover of the Month for April 2019. The awards recognize NorthStar Moving’s extraordinary efforts in fighting hunger.

NorthStar Moving was also recognized by Move for Hunger for their assistance with large annual events, such as the LA Marathon and Rock ‘n’ Roll San Francisco Half Marathon, collecting thousands of pounds of leftover food and delivering them to food banks. "Through food drives, food rescues, and by collecting donations from their clients, NorthStar Moving has provided more than 60,000 meals to Californians facing hunger," said Adam Lowy, Executive Director and Founder of Move For Hunger. "NorthStar Moving has always been one of our most reliable supporters, and these awards are much-deserved recognition of the important work they are doing in the communities they serve."

In June, NorthStar Moving will kick-off their 7th Annual “Let’s Send Hunger Packing!” food drive in partnership with Groundwork Coffee, the Pacific Palisades office of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices and others. The food drive helps feed hungry children in Los Angeles County when school is out and the kids lose access to daily school sponsored meals.

“Move for Hunger has brought so much good to the moving industry and we are proud to be their partner for the past nine years,” said NorthStar Moving Co-Founder Laura McHolm. “Hunger is all around us and it breaks my heart that children in our own backyards go to bed hungry. One out of four children in Los Angeles County is at risk of going to bed hungry tonight. Through our partnership with Move for Hunger and our annual food drive we collect and deliver food to our local food banks. I am thrilled to be recognized again this year by Move for Hunger, but more importantly, I encourage everyone to join us and bring in much needed donations for this year’s Let’s Send Hunger Packing food drive, June 3rd to June 14th.”
