Nyrstar: Further update on unplanned production outage at Port Pirie smelter

9 July 2019 at 08.00 CEST

Nyrstar NV ("Nyrstar" or the “Company”) today provides an update to its press releases issued on 10 June 2019 and 28 June 2019, whereby it was communicated that the Company had to declare force majeure under a number of its agreements due to an unplanned stoppage of production at the Port Pirie smelter. The Company had previously advised on 28 June 2019 that it anticipated that that the Blast Furnace and TSL Furnace would restart at approximately the same time in the second week of July 2019. The Company today provides a further update on the progress for the restart.

The Company wishes to advise that the force majeure is now expected to continue until the last week of July 2019. It currently expects both the TSL Furnace and the Blast Furnace to restart by the end of July 2019.

As previously stated, the extended unplanned shutdown will have a material negative impact on production at Port Pirie and Underlying EBITDA. Nyrstar is continuing to quantify the impact and will provide further information regarding the resolution of the production outage in due course and by no later than the H1 2019 results release.
