Wawa Extends “SchwarberFest,” In-App Offer of $5 Shortis® and $6 Classics and Takes it to the Next Level by Adding Hot Turkey Hoagies to Promotion and More Funds to Fight Hunger

Wawa shows continued support of its home team with extra savings for customers and an additional $25,0000 to Philabundance

WAWA, Pa., Oct. 25, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Wawa today is excited to announce the extension of “SchwarberFest,” a limited-time promotion offering $5 Shortis® and $6 Classics to customers using the Wawa App, for the remainder of the postseason.

Last week, Wawa first announced the launch of SchwarberFest, and in honor of the promotion, Wawa made a $25,000 contribution to Philabundance to help relieve hunger in our local community. This week, after Philadelphia’s continued success on the ball field, Wawa has decided to extend SchwarberFest through the end of the series, and starting this Friday, Oct. 28, Hot Turkey Shortis and Classics will now be included in the offer. In addition, Wawa will make a second donation of $25,000 to Philabundance to double down on the company’s commitment to striking out hunger.

“Philadelphia is our hometown, and as Philadelphia sports fans, it’s fun to be a small part of the overall excitement and energy right now and, of course, support our favorite leftfielder, Kyle Schwarber,” said Alex Costabile, Wawa’s Chief Customer Officer. “While we’re all rooting for our local team, we’re also working to hit a home run in our collective fight against hunger, so we’re proud to have been able to donate $50,000 to Philabundance in the past two weeks. Right now, it’s safe to say we’re all ‘Pheeling Good.”

How SchwarberFest was Born

In June and July when Philadelphia fans were watching Kyle Schwarber kiss over 20 home runs goodbye on his way to being one of the best power hitters in baseball, at Wawa, we were celebrating our annual HoagieFest® campaign, a 13-year tradition of discounting hoagies each summer. As Philadelphia made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years, some fans and outlets on social media asked why Wawa couldn’t host a special return of the Hoagiefest promotion in honor of this performance and the team’s success. So, just as Kyle and the team are giving it their all to bring home a championship to Philadelphia, Wawa is thrilled to continue “SchwarberFest” and hopes fans keep dancing on their own couches and in the ballpark in the days ahead!

About Wawa, Inc.

Wawa, Inc., a privately held company, began in 1803 as an iron foundry in New Jersey. Toward the end of the 19th Century, owner George Wood took an interest in dairy farming and the family began a small processing plant in Wawa, PA in 1902. The milk business was a huge success, due to its quality, cleanliness and “certified” process.
