BERLIN, Aug. 28, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Xcanbot arrives at IFA Berlin 2026 with two machines on Booth CCBB-154: the XcanMow Mix 2000, a robot lawn mower making its European debut, and the Mate X, a seated mobility robot. Both run live demonstrations daily from 4 to 8 September at Messe Berlin.
Ask the owner of a robot mower where it fails, and the answer is rarely the open lawn. It is the passage beside the house. The corner under the beech tree where satellite reception dies. The front garden the machine cannot reach without being carried.
The two navigation systems that dominate the category struggle with precisely these places. Wire-guided mowers follow a cable buried around every bed and border, a weekend of trenching that starts over each time the garden changes. RTK mowers replaced the wire with a satellite antenna and inherited satellite problems: under a canopy, against a tall wall or down a narrow side return, the signal degrades and the machine stops.
The Mix 2000 does without both. XcanSense, the navigation system Xcanbot developed in-house, pairs LiDAR with camera vision to scan the garden directly, building a three-dimensional map on its first run. No wire, no antenna, no base station, and no walk around the boundary with a controller. Because the mower reads its surroundings instead of listening for satellites, it holds position to roughly 2 cm in shade, beside walls and after dark.

The practical consequence is reach. The Mix 2000 passes through gaps as narrow as 55 cm, the width of a typical side return between house and fence. It climbs 25-degree gradients, steps over obstacles up to 5 cm and covers properties of up to 2,000 m² at around 180 m² per hour. Multi-zone mapping treats a divided plot, front lawn, back lawn and the strip across the drive, as one property on one schedule.

Everything else about the machine is designed to be forgotten. It cuts at 30 to 60 mm on a three-blade disc and works at 61 dB, about the level of a normal conversation. A rain sensor sends it home to the dock. The IPX6-rated body rinses clean under a garden hose. The battery swaps in seconds, and when a charge runs out mid-job the mower docks, recharges and resumes exactly where it stopped. 4G and GPS come as standard, with a PIN code and lift alert built in.
"Every robot mower is advertised on the same lawn: flat, open, unbroken," said Zhanbin Li, founder and CEO of Xcanbot. "Nobody's garden looks like that. We built the Mix 2000 for the garden with a narrow gate, a slope and a big tree. Which is to say, for most gardens."
Sharing the stand is the Mate X, a seated mobility robot developed as consumer technology: designed, priced and sold like an electronics product, not a piece of medical equipment.
