SIKA TO ACQUIRE ADHESIVES BUSINESS SERVING ASIAN GROWTH MARKETS

Sika has agreed to acquire the adhesives business of Resonac Corporation, a Japan-based chemical company. The acquired business develops, manufactures, and sells a broad range of adhesive technologies, which primarily serve automotive customers across Asia. The complementary customer base and manufacturing footprint will create significant growth opportunities and operational synergies for Sika.

The acquired business has a long history of developing innovative adhesives for industrial applications, particularly for the automotive industry, with a leading position in interior assembly bonding. The business has built a strong reputation and established long-standing customer relationships throughout Asia, with sales organizations and manufacturing sites in Japan, China, and Taiwan.

KEY BENEFITS OF THE ACQUISITION

  • New Customers, Enhanced Market Access, Broader Offering: The acquisition strengthens access to key suppliers of Japanese automotive OEMs and expands Sika’s platform to serve these major accounts globally. In addition, the highly complementary technology portfolio broadens the offering for automotive interior applications. This will create attractive new growth opportunities for Sika. Resonac’s adhesives business will benefit from Sika’s extensive adhesives expertise and global reach, enhancing the product portfolio across the automotive and industrial segments.
  • More Efficient Manufacturing Network: The complementary production footprint will create a fully integrated manufacturing network able to efficiently serve automotive and industrial customers throughout the Asia/Pacific region, achieving meaningful cost synergies.
  • Growth Platform: The acquired business’s established presence and customer base in Taiwan create additional growth opportunities in battery solutions and give access to new high-value market segments where Sika can further expand its innovative solutions.

Philippe Jost, Sika Regional Manager Asia/Pacific: “This acquisition will strengthen our adhesives business in Asia and expand our ability to serve key customers with a broader range of innovative solutions. The strong alignment of technologies and customer relationships will create significant cross-selling opportunities, driving additional growth as well as efficiencies.
