“Periods of uncertainty test the resilience of financial reporting and emphasize the importance of high-quality audits,” said Sonny Randhawa, CEO, CPAB. “As risks continue to evolve, effective regulatory oversight plays a critical role in promoting transparency, accountability, and public confidence in financial reporting and Canada's capital markets.”
Themes identified in CPAB’s inspection findings so far this year include:
- Accounting estimates in an environment of heightened uncertainty.
- Understanding information systems and highly automated processes.
- Perpetual inventory systems and cycle counts.
- Rebutting the presumed risk of fraud in revenue recognition.
