PoopPac Unveils First Portable Carrier for Dog Waste

Stylish Holder Allows Dog Walkers to Conceal Unpleasant Mess Until They Find a Trash Can

SANTA BARBARA, CA--(Marketwire - May 13, 2010) -  PoopPac, a company specializing in pet care innovations, recently introduced the industry's first portable pet waste carrier. Designed to be both stylish and functional, the PoopPac is large enough to contain dog waste until the pet's owner can find a trash can, yet small enough to carry comfortably. The carrier also has additional space to hold plastic bags for scooping and other essentials.

The company's founder, Susan Davidson, was inspired to create the PoopPac after observing dogs and their owners on the beach in her hometown of Santa Barbara, California. It is common for people everywhere to bag their dog's waste and then carry it with them -- often for extended periods of time -- until they can locate a place to toss it. With a leash in one hand and a poop-filled bag in the other, there's practically no way to sip a cup of coffee or take a cell phone call without experiencing a too-close-for-comfort encounter.

"At first I found it amusing -- watching people awkwardly handle their dog poop bags as they tried to carry on a conversation or finish their jog along the beach," said Davidson. "Then it occurred to me there must not be a product to carry the mess in and that's when the idea for PoopPac was born."

Manufactured in the U.S.A., the patented case design is durable, light and machine washable. Its rigid frame ensures the waste will remain in the case and not come into contact with other items. Its "main compartment" zips open, is wipe-able and contains an activated charcoal filter to absorb odors and moisture.

There are several ways to carry a PoopPac. It comes with a built-in belt clip, and a removable wrist lanyard or carabineer clip. A shoulder strap is also available. PoopPac can be attached to a backpack, belt loop, leash or even a stroller.

"I believe people generally embrace their responsibility to pick up after their dogs, but they become frustrated when the bag dispensers in the park are empty or their dogs decide it's 'time' when they're far from a trash can," said Davidson. "And that frustration leads to piles that are never picked up or walking paths littered with abandoned packages."

In addition to holding standard pet waste bags, PoopPac's "rear compartment" is handy for small personal items, such as keys, a cell phone or hand sanitizer. It is available in black with a choice of seven zipper colors and measures 7"w x 5.5" h x 3.25"d. PoopPac is sold exclusively on www.pooppac.com for $29.95 plus tax and shipping.

PoopPac was selected by the World's Ugliest Dog Competition to be featured as one of 10 exhibitors at the June 2010 event, which will air on Animal Planet.

The unisex black case design features a raised dog paw print. PoopPac plans to introduce larger sizes (that's you, Mastiff and Great Dane owners!) as well as print fabrics and faux leather and suede later this year.

"I am truly overwhelmed by the positive feedback we're receiving from consumers across the globe," said Davidson. "Not only are they excited to finally have something to transport their doggy deposits, they actually like the design and consider it an accessory."
