Nokia joins RosettaNet

Nokia has today announced that it has joined RosettaNet (www.rosettanet.org) in order to drive the development of e-business standards. RosettaNet is a self-funded and non-profit consortium of major Information Technology, Electronic Components and Semiconductor Manufacturing companies working to create and implement industry-wide, open e-business process standards. The aim of RosettaNet is to establish a common language and standard processes for the electronic sharing of business information. Today, RosettaNet operates with the collaboration of more than 300 companies, representing more than $1 trillion in consolidated revenue. Nokia will also be represented on the Board of Directors of RosettaNet.

“Nokia has ambitious targets for its e-business. Already next year, we expect to make significant savings as a result of our e-business transformation. We have for several years now worked on integrating business processes with our suppliers. RosettaNet is one of the key elements in helping us do this effectively. The work of RosettaNet is based on openstandards, and hence it offers us an opportunity to build flexible and future-proof solutions for managing our global supply environment. We look forward to working closely with RosettaNet,” says Pertti Korhonen, Senior Vice President, Global Operations, Logistics and Sourcing, Nokia Mobile Phones.

RosettaNet leverages existing open e-business standards, guidelines and specifications for cross- platform, application and network communication. RosettaNet takes standards to the next level, creating e-business frameworks that cross the boundaries of individual companies to enhance the interoperability of business processes. RosettaNet dictionaries provide a common set of properties for business transactions and products.
