LANCASTER, Penn. Feb.2, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- WPD, Ltd., the owner of Welsh utility Hyder plc and its subsidiary, Hyder Industrial Group, Ltd., today announced the sale of all outstanding shares of capital stock in Hyder North America, Inc., the group's U.S.-based engineering and consulting operations, to The ARRO Group, Inc.
Seven members of the Hyder North American management team formed a new Pennsylvania corporation, The ARRO Group, Inc., to acquire the U.S. business. Like its predecessor, the new company will operate two divisions. ARRO Consulting, Inc. will provide engineering and consulting services to municipal government and industry, and ARRO Environmental Services, Inc. will operate public and privately owned water and wastewater treatment facilities.
The ARRO Group, Inc. and its subsidiaries will operate out of the seven existing U.S. offices located in Lancaster, Limerick, Reading, and Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Baltimore and Hagerstown, Md.; and Braintree, Mass.
WPD, Ltd., jointly owned by PPL Corp. of Allentown, Pa. and Southern Energy of Atlanta, Ga. purchased the Welsh electrical and water utility Hyder plc last September. In the U.S., services were provided under the name of Hyder North America, Inc. and its two subsidiaries: Hyder Consulting, Inc., the company's engineering and consulting arm, and Hyder Environ mental Services, Inc., the firm's water and wastewater operations group.
