Neoware Appointed Windows Embedded Partner by Microsoft

Company Gains Accelerated Access to the Latest Microsoft Technologies

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Nov. 28, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Neoware Systems (Nasdaq:NWRE), the leading supplier of award-winning software and solutions for the emerging Appliance Computing market, today announced that Microsoft Corp. has appointed Neoware as a participant in the Windows Embedded Partner program.

The Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner (WEP) program is a strategic worldwide program that provides partnering and co-marketing opportunities to companies delivering products, services, or solutions based on Microsoft Windows Embedded platforms. The WEP program provides benefits to partners with the intent of enabling partners to bring their Windows Embedded-based solutions to market faster.

Neoware is already reaping the benefits of having joined WEP by working closely with Microsoft to develop its upcoming Windows XP Embedded operating system. Currently, Neoware's thin client appliance products support all available Windows Embedded operating systems, including Windows CE 3.0 and Windows NT Embedded 4.0.

Neoware's Capio and Eon products are thin client appliances that are cost-effective alternatives to personal computers used by businesses, and powerful replacements for green-screen terminals. Used in conjunction with Citrix or Microsoft Terminal Services, Neoware's Capio and Eon computing appliances allow users to run virtually any application from a server, plus connect to mainframes, midrange systems, and the Internet. Unlike personal computers, Neoware's thin client appliances can be centrally managed and remotely configured, which greatly simplifies administration. Because of this, thin client appliances can save up to 80 percent of the total cost of ownership of networked personal computers, resulting in significant cost savings for enterprise customers and fueling growth in the thin client market.

"Neoware has worked very closely with Microsoft to develop a broad range of Windows Powered thin client appliances," said Michael Kantrowitz, president and CEO of Neoware. "Being appointed as a Windows Embedded Partner further strengthens our relationship and commitment to providing customers with access to the latest Microsoft applications and operating systems."

"Neoware harnesses the power of Microsoft's Windows Embedded operating systems to provide customers with highly reliable thin client solutions," said Scott Horn, director of the Embedded Appliance and Platforms Group at Microsoft. "Neoware's commitment to the Windows Embedded family of operating systems made it a logical choice to be included in the Windows Embedded Partner program. By working closely with Windows Embedded Partners such as Neoware, Microsoft is ensuring that our joint customers receive great products and support."
