no 18/08 Nord Pool expands carbon market reach in Poland

(Lysaker, 6 October 2008) From 1 October 2008, the Nord Pool carbon market has been incorporated into the Internet based trading platform poee, giving Polish market participants the opportunity to trade CO2 emission allowances products on Nord Pool's forward and spot market.

The CO2 allowances market available on the poee platform is a part of the European Union emissions trading scheme (EU ETS) and its main advantage is the connection of the platform's trading system with exchanges and platforms operating in EU countries. Such connection gives poee participants a direct access to the EU CO2 trading market and allows them to enter into contracts with the use of offers from other exchanges and platforms, and at the same time gives participants of foreign exchanges and platforms an opportunity to enter into contracts with Polish companies.

On 13-14 October 2008, poee and Nord Pool will organize a conference (for detailed information see http://www.poee.pl www.poee.pl ), during which a live demonstration of the connection between the poee platform and Nord Pool exchange will take place. Trading on the platform will be in euro, and euro currency accounts for poee participants open in Nordea Bank Polska S.A. will provide for efficient clearing of each transaction.
