WATERTOWN, Mass., July 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- After a comprehensive review process, the APA selected Liaison International's eAccreditation System to manage the Commission on Accreditation's system of accreditation for approximately 900 professional psychology education and training programs. The new system was launched today beginning with the agency's annual report process.
eAccreditation™ is a state-of-the-art, web-based accreditation management system that organizes documents and manages the entire accreditation process—from initial application, through self-study documentation, site visit, accreditation decision and any required follow-up from a given academic program—using a comprehensive, systematic approach. eAccreditation is available to specialized and professional accrediting agencies in the US, Canada and Europe, as well as other markets where the assessment of an academic (or other professional) program is conducted by an independent group of peers to ensure that the program being reviewed has met established standards.
APA CoA's Director, Susan Zlotlow stated: "We are excited to be using eAccreditation™ and to be working with Liaison. The Liaison team appears ready and able to build a solution for us that will allow us to provide our communities of interest with the tools needed for the next decade."
The APA Commission on Accreditation (APA-CoA) is recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation, as the national accrediting authority for professional education and training in psychology. The APA-CoA accredits doctoral graduate programs in clinical, counseling and school psychology, internship programs in professional psychology, and postdoctoral residency programs that provide education and training in preparation for professional practice.
