Leading Retailers Across the Globe, Including Restoration Hardware,
Adopting Solution to Help Improve Performance & Customer Service
WATERLOO, Ontario, Oct. 14, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Descartes Systems Group (Nasdaq:DSGX) (TSX:DSG), the global leader in uniting logistics-intensive businesses in commerce, announced the launch of its updated home delivery solution. The solution is now being deployed by leading retailers across the globe, including deployments in Australia, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Retailers on the forefront of home delivery innovation, including Restoration Hardware, have adopted the solution to help provide differentiated customer service and improved top and bottom line performance in general merchandise, furniture, electronics, grocery and home improvement markets.
As part of Descartes' cloud-based Logistics Technology Platform, Descartes' home delivery solution is built on an integrated, but modular, architecture comprised of the following:
- Descartes Reservations™ for delivery appointment scheduling;
- Descartes Route Planner™ for route optimization, dispatch and tracking;
- Descartes Mobile™ for wireless communications and mobile applications; and
- Descartes Notifications™ for automated call-outs.
Descartes Route Planner is unique in that it supports same- and next-day delivery, tight delivery time windows and "white glove" services planning for consumers, while offering retailers "profitable choice" home delivery options. "Profitable choice" allows retailers to increase their revenue through premium delivery windows and value-added services, while reducing costs by offering delivery options that reduce delivery route mileage. The solution includes real-time delivery appointment scheduling, route optimization and execution, mobile applications and notification services, and is available in cloud-based or on-premise configurations.
"Home delivery success for retailers starts when the order is taken," said Chris Jones, EVP Marketing and Services at Descartes. "Because our home delivery solution schedules appointments in real-time at the point of order and evaluates the profit of potential delivery choices, we can provide retailers the ability to offer better customer service, increase their revenue and cut their delivery costs."
Descartes' home delivery solution is being deployed globally and is available in multiple languages, such as French, Spanish, Japanese Korean and Mandarin Chinese. It supports map technology such as Here, Google, Yahoo and Baidu, and a variety of mobile device operating systems such as Android and Microsoft.
Descartes will be demonstrating its advanced home delivery solution at the Omni-Channel Retailing/Home Delivery Summit taking place in London, UK, on October 15th, 2013. More event information is available at www.descartes.com/omni-channel-retailing-home-delivery-summit.
