NEWARK, Del., March 18, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Artesian Resources Corporation (Nasdaq:ARTNA) announced today that Dian C. Taylor, Chair, President and CEO, was the recipient of the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting on February 22, 2014.
The Lifetime Achievement Award, established in 2012, is given for on-going distinguished contributions to the water industry. Taylor was awarded the distinction this year for her significant contributions and accomplishments as the 4th generation of the Taylor Family to lead Artesian and for her efforts with regard to her stewardship of the local environment. Among these efforts, Artesian is a founding and continuing partner in the annual Christina River Watershed Clean-up, the largest environmental cleanup in the area, which will celebrate its 23rd year in 2014. Taylor also established Artesian's Water Education Program in local schools. This successful initiative has now reached nearly 20,000 children across the Delmarva Peninsula, teaching them the principles of environmental protection and water conservation. She was instrumental in establishing the award winning Artesian Water Recycling Partnership with the Town of Middletown, Delaware. This partnership was created to encourage and support the use of reclaimed water for agricultural irrigation and other uses and was awarded the Government Award by the Water Resource Association of the Delaware River Basin. More than 2.5 million gallons of water is saved each day by this project.
Dian Taylor joins Henry R. Hidell III, global water expert who received the award in 2013 and James M. Stevens, Sr., bottled water industry creator who received the award in 2012.
The Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting was held in historic Berkeley Springs, West Virginia and has been a tradition for 24 years. It brings together more than 125 water samples from across the country and around the globe in several categories including tap and bottled water.
