WASHINGTON, June 25, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The following statement should be attributed to Javier Palomarez, President & CEO, United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC):
"The USHCC is thrilled that after months of debate, Congress has passed bipartisan Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) and Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) legislation. We applaud the unwavering commitment of President Obama, Congressional leaders, and fellow business advocates that ultimately led to legislative victory and the opportunity to grow American exports, create new jobs, and protect our workers.
"In the weeks ahead, it will be imperative to act quickly on the approval of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). The USHCC is committed to helping our membership of Hispanic entrepreneurs – as well as all American businesses – make the most of TPP, which will help level the playing field in foreign markets, make it easier for small businesses to sell their goods, increase competition, and create opportunities for entrepreneurs to expand operations at home and abroad.
"Small and minority-owned firms across the nation should have the resources they need to thrive and further contribute to our nation's economic renewal through international trade. This week's passage of TPA and TPP was the crucial first step we needed."
