Mimvi Launches Mobile App Search Engines for Apple iPhone, Google Android and BlackBerry Smartphones

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 18, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mimvi, Inc. (OTCBB:MIMV), the world's largest pure-play search, discovery and recommendation engine for finding mobile apps (or applications), has announced the launch of a proprietary search and recommendation technology based on cognitive computing for all mobile app platforms. The patent-pending technology has been used to create platform-specific search engines starting with the U.S. market's three primary "smartphone" players: Apple's iPhone, Google Android and RIM's BlackBerry. Windows Mobile 7, Samsung, Nokia and others will follow. These search engines were launched in response to growing consumer demand for a more personalized search experience.

Mimvi's platform-specific vertical search and recommendation engines can be found at the following locations:

Google Android: http://www.mimvi.com/android
Apple iPhone: http://www.mimvi.com/apple
RIM BlackBerry: http://www.mimvi.com/blackberry

Available for third parties, this technology also enables any of their mobile app platforms, app stores or generic search engines to significantly expand revenue by extending the number of mobile apps to include those their consumers ordinarily would not be able to find or discover. This is done by combining data from the Mimvi mobile app search engines. The data is then algorithmically processed along with human curation. This in turn enables Mimvi to take any mobile app search result from any mobile platform and generate "suggested search results" for any other mobile app on any other mobile platform. These new results can then be used to extend the mobile app platforms, app stores or generic search engines of third parties. This allows Mimvi to provide search results to third parties that no other engine can provide today. Mimvi intends to license this proprietary technology worldwide.

Kasian Franks, Mimvi's Founder and CEO stated: "As the number of mobile apps and mobile web apps exponentially grow, much in the way websites did, Mimvi will play an increasingly important role in peoples' everyday lives. The growth levels we are experiencing with the Mobile Internet, which is what Mimvi was conceived and designed for, is proving to be bigger than anything we've experienced in the past."

These insights were recently validated by Morgan Stanley Internet Trends Report by Mary Meeker, who is predicting that within the next five years "more users will likely connect to the Internet over mobile devices than desktop PCs." Also noted in the report is that a "Rapid Ramp of Mobile Internet Usage Will be a Boon to Consumers and Some Companies Will Likely Win Big (Potentially Very Big) While Many Will Wonder What Just Happened."
