Under the terms of the agreement, Charles Industries and Net Insight will work together to fulfill sales and marketing opportunities of video solutions to Telco service providers. Net Insight's Nimbra product portfolio includes a complete range of multi-service network equipment based on Next Generation SONET technology. The platform provides a guaranteed quality of service for video, data and voice services within the network from the core backbone to the end customer. Net Insight's proven network solutions are in use by a number of demanding customers, including metro/regional operators who offer IP-TV and Internet access for residential ADSL customers.
While Net Insight provides the network transport section of the video solution, Charles Industries provides network access with is STEP DSL(TM) System. STEP DSL is a highly scalable DSLAM platform allowing Telco's the ability to deploy DSL services to both low and high-density areas with a minimal initial capital investment. Utilizing STEP DSL, Telco's can generate new revenue opportunities by offering triple play services (data, video and voice). STEP DSL utilizes Ethernet in the access network as opposed to ATM. It deploys an "IP all the way" system supporting integrated high-speed "always-on" triple play services. In particular, STEP DSL supports ADSL2+ and IGMP multicasting, essential protocols for deploying video.
"The Net Insight relationship will strengthen Charles Industries' reach and penetration with innovative video product solutions," said Mark Huntzinger, Director, Access and Transmission Business Unit. "Net Insight has a strong reputation as a value-added provider of video, as well as voice and data networking equipment, and this partnership will benefit both companies in the rapidly growing area of triple play services. We are excited to join forces with Net Insight and further develop this market." Huntzinger added.
"Charles Industries has customer relationships and complementary products that will allow both companies to provide an end-to-end video solution," Per Lindgren, Vice President of Business Development, Net Insight, said. "In light of the growing demand for IP video services, the Charles Industries partnership was a natural fit," said Lindgren.
The combined Nimbra / STEP DSL video solution will be demonstrated in Charles Industries' exhibit (booth #24025) at SUPERCOMM 2005, a leading telecommunications tradeshow, June 7-9 at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
