Lysaker, 02 June May 2005 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): I n week 20 there was less inflow than normal, due to cold weather which in turn has delayed the snow melt in the mountains. A total inflow of 2.6 TWh in week 20 is the lowest recorded in this week since 1995. Consequently there was a quite moderate increase with 0.6 percentage points during week 20. The filling level in the Norwegian hydropower reservoirs are now 33.1 percent. In this week it is expected milder weather and increased snow melt. This will give a substantial increase in the inflow and reservoir fillings. In Sweden, the filling level increased by 2.8 percentage points during week 20, giving a total filling level of 29.3 percent. The electricity consumption in Finland was extraordinary low in week 20, due to strike and later on lock-out in the Finnish paper industry. A consequence of this is an inverted power-flow between Finland and Sweden and Finnish exports to Sweden. Hence the Nordic hydropower production has decreased in week 20. The Norwegian electricity production was reduced with 162 GWh and the exports fell with 111 GWh. ------------------------------- Contact person at the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate: Marit Lundteigen Fossdal, NVE, tel: +47 2295 9353
