The Power Situation in Norway as of 1 December 2004

Lysaker, 1 December 2004

Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE):

An increased Nordic electricity consumption and high inflow has resulted in increased Norwegian electricity production and reduced net import of electricity. During week 48, the Norwegian net import was 143 GWh.

An inflow during the last three weeks of 2.3 TWh above normal, has contributed to bringing the reservoir filling level closer to normal. The reservoir filling is now 76.4 percent, which is 4.1 percent below normal. Compared to the corresponding week last year, the reservoir filling level is now 14.4 percentage points higher. The filling level in the Swedish reservoirs fell by 2.1 percentage points during week 48, and ended at 75.5 percent.

End user prices are now lower than at the same time last year. The average price for one year fixed price contracts offered to consumers today is 0.344 NOK/KWh (including VAT of 24 percent). At the same time last year the average price offered on this product was 0.410 NOK/KWh.
