Lysaker, 24 November 2004 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Cooler weather in the Nordic countries resulted in increased electricity consumption in week 47. Increased Norwegian hydroelectricity production covered parts of this increase. This resulted in the Norwegian net import fell in week 47. During week 47, there was an effective inflow to the Norwegian hydropower reservoirs of approximately 2.5 TWh. In spite of a considerable increase in the Norwegian hydropower production, the filling level in the Norwegian water reservoirs only fell by 0.8 percentage points to 77.9 percent. The filling level is now 4.9 percentage points below normal. Only two weeks ago, the filling level was 8.6 percentage points below normal. The reservoir filling in Sweden is now XX.X percent after a reduction of X.X percent during week 47 The price offered to consumers with standard variable price contracts has been stable the last few weeks. The spot price, which is the reference price for spot contracts, has also been stable. However, the price on spot contracts have been lower than the price offered on standard variable price contracts by the dominating suppliers. ------------------------------- Contact person at the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate: Marit Lundteigen Fossdal, NVE, tel: +47 2295 9353
