Lysaker, 8 August 2007 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Power prices in the south of Norway at its lowest since 1998 The price of electricity at the Nordic Energy Exchange was 3.8 øre/kWh delivered to the south of Norway in week 31. This is the lowest level observed since August 1998. On average for the last three weeks, the power price in the south of Norway has been 5.0 øre/kWh. The price level is kept low by high reservoir levels and inflows above normal. The total Norwegian power production was around 2.4 TWh in week 31. This is almost 30 percent more than the production level of the same week last year. The Norwegian electricity export was 0.6 TWh during the week, or about one fourth of the total power generated. This is one of the highest level of electricity exports ever observed. The Norwegian reservoir level increased by 1.4 percentage points throughout week 31. The reservoir level was 90.9 percent at the end of the week. This is 7.0 percentage points above normal.
