Lysaker, 01 November 2006 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Increased Norwegian import The Norwegian consumption of electricity increased with six percent from week 42 to week 43. The main reason for this was lower temperatures. The Norwegian generation of power remained at the same level as last week. Hence, a larger share of the Norwegian consumption was covered by import from Sweden and Denmark. During the last six weeks almost a tenth of the Norwegian power consumption has been covered by import from our neighbouring countries. The power price at the Nordic Power Exchange, Nord Pool, dropped further from week 42 to 43. For residential consumers with a spot contract and a margin of 2.2 øre/kWh, the price would be 59.3 øre/kWh in week 43. This is a reduction of 2.3 øre/kWh from last week. The effective inflow to the Norwegian hydro power system was 2.1 TWh. This was about equal to the Norwegian power generation in week 43 and the water reservoir level remained unchanged. At the end of week 43 the level was 64.0 percent. This is 23.1 percentage points below normal. The reservoir level in Sweden increased with 1.2 percentage points during week 42 and is 68.9 percent. ------------------------------- Contact person at the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate: Tor Arnt Johnsen, NVE, phone: +47 9302 4238 Jon Sagen, NVE, phone: +47 2295 9595
