Lysaker, 30 October 2006 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Reduced Norwegian and Nordic electricity imports The power price at the Nordic Power Exchange Nord Pool dropped from week 41 to 42. There is large difference between the prices in Norway and the other Nordic countries. The average price in South of Norway was 0.05 NOK/kWh above the average price in Sweden in week 42. The prices in Sweden and Denmark, the countries in the Nordic region with exchange with Germany, have dropped down to the German price level and there was a balanced exchange in week 42. In week 41 the Nordic net imports from Germany was 70 GWh. The power production in Norway increased with 14 percent from week 41 to week 42. Increased demand, due to colder weather has contributed to this growth. In addition the increased Norwegian production has compensated for a lower Nordic import from Germany. In week 42, the effective inflow to the Norwegian hydro power system was 2.0 TWh. That is 10 percent below normal values for the week. Increased production and less inflow than normal resulted in a 0.1 percentage point drop in the Norwegian reservoir level. At the end of week 42 the level was 64.0 percent.
