Lysaker, 05 April 2006 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): In week 13, there was a Norwegian net import of electricity for the first time since the beginning of 2005. A total amount of 129 GWh was imported in this week. The imports to the Nordic area also increased heavily and amounted to 348 GWh in week 13. 70 percent of this total was imported from Russia, and the rest from Germany and Poland. This is the first week with Nordic electricity imports from Germany since autumn 2004. After seven consecutive weeks with increasing prices at the Nordic electricity exchange, prices dropped from week 12 to week 13. Reduced consumption, high wind power production and considerably lower German prices contributed to the fall-off. The German hourly prices were lower than the corresponding Nordic prices in most of the hours this week. The Norwegian power production was reduced with 11 percent from week 12 to week 13. Despite less effective inflow than normal for the seventh week in a row, the drop in the reservoir level was smaller than in the previous week (3.0 percentage points in week 12 versus 2.6 percentage points during week 13). At the end of week 13 the Norwegian reservoir level was 36.2 percent.
