Enea Demonstrates Open Event Machine Implementation on Broadcom XLP Architecture at MWC

For multi-core applications demanding high performance in data plane/fast path
packet processing

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, February 13, 2014. Enea (NASDAQ OMX Nordic:ENEA) a world
leading operating system solution vendor for telecom infrastructure equipment
today announced the demonstration of an Enea implementation of Open Event
Machine (Open EM) based on Broadcom Corporation’s XLP® Multi-core, Multi
-Threaded Processor Series, at Mobile World Congress, February 24-27. The
implementation takes advantage of the unique XLP network acceleration framework
for packet processing, bringing maximum performance to enterprise, 4G/LTE
service providers, data center, cloud computing, and Software Defined Networking
(SDN) environments.
“We are pleased to collaborate with Enea in the development of high performance
operating system solutions for multicore devices based on our XLP Series
processors,” said Eric Hayes, Vice President of Platform Marketing, Processors
and Wireless Infrastructure at Broadcom. “Enea’s optimized implementation helps
us highlight the significant processing power and advantages of the XLP
architecture for communications and networking applications.”

Open EM has been chosen as a starting point for the OpenDataPlaneTM (ODP)
initiative by Linaro, the not-for-profit engineering organization developing
open source software for the ARM® architecture. Enea and Broadcom are active
contributors in the ARM eco-system, and two of twelve members of the Linaro
Networking Group (LNG), whose goals are development and promotion of an open
standard for data plane processing.

“Broadcom, as a world leading supplier of solutions for communications and
networking, is a key technology partner for Enea,” said Oskar Swirtun, SVP
Marketing, Enea. “The introduction of a leading edge technology like Open EM for
the XLP processors is an important step when focusing on solutions for SDN,
Cloud computing in data centers, or Cloud-RAN, and I am thrilled we can do it in
close cooperation with a leading technology company like Broadcom.”

Welcome to Hall 3 Stand 3B30 at Mobile World Congress to discover more.

About Open EM

Open EM is designed as a high performance networking data plane software engine
for multicore devices that provides optimal scalability and load balancing
characteristics for maximum packet throughput.
