SFIMA Hosts Marketing Guru Peter Shankman

HARO Founder, Entrepreneur and Author to Discuss How Nice Companies Finish First

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwired - Aug 1, 2013) - On August 8, the South Florida Interactive Marketing Association will host noted marketer, entrepreneur and author, Peter Shankman, to share insights from his latest book, Nice Companies Finish First; Why Cutthroat Management Is Over and Collaboration Is In. Shankman will present case studies from Apple, Zappos and American Express, and discuss how customer service policies can shape or hinder a company's success.

According to Shankman, small businesses lose an average of $289 per customer, who will often abandon them after only one bad experience. He cautions that businesses must listen, engage, and interact to create a positive connection with customers. And because smart phone users have an average audience of 200 and have become "24-7" publishers of their experiences, the cost implications for small businesses of this "always on" consumer are very real. Shankman will share practical advice that shows digital marketers and business owners how to turn customer experiences and social reach into tangible company value.

The event is open to the public and takes place Thursday, August 8 at the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum in Dania Beach, Fla. Professional networking begins at 6:30 p.m., with Shankman's presentation starting at 7:30 p.m. The event is free for SFIMA members. Non-members pay $39 in advance, $49 at the door. To register, visit http://bit.ly/12eiHCo.
