Finland, Helsinki, 2013-08-27 13:40 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Suominen Corporation   Press release 27 August 2013 at 14:40 (EEST)

SUOMINEN TO COMMENCE STATUTORY CODETERMINATION NEGOTIATIONS FOR TEMPORARY LAY-OFFS AT ITS NAKKILA PLANT IN FINLAND

Based on the general market environment and the estimates received from key customers, Suominen anticipates that the demand for nonwovens products supplied by its Nakkila, Finland plant may remain lower than anticipated. To adjust the operations of the plant with the current business environment, Suominen Kuitukankaat Oy initiates codetermination negotiations concerning potential temporary lay-offs involving its production personnel as well as the personnel working in administrative and support functions related with production, in total approximately 75 people.

The potential temporary lay-offs would be implemented in shorter periods as of October 2013 until April 2014, including the months in question. At most, the potential lay-off period would be 90 days per person.
