Kandou’s Dr. Amin Shokrollahi to Speak about Chord™ Signaling at Design Automation Conference (DAC)

Will highlight Chord Signaling for USR Applications

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, June 25, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kandou Bus announced today that Dr. Amin Shokrollahi, Founder and CEO of Kandou, will speak at the 2018 Design Automation Conference (DAC) as part of the track entitled “Latest Developments in High Performance SoC Interface IP Standards.”  Dr. Shokrollahi has been at the forefront of research in information communication for more than 20 years and is an IEEE Fellow. He will speak in Session 44.1, “High Bandwidth and Low Power USR SerDes via Chord Signaling” at 10:30 a.m. in Room 2008 at the Moscone Center West Convention Center in San Francisco.

“The semiconductor industry is recognizing that the cost to design in leading edge foundry processes is a real challenge,” said Amin Shokrollahi, Kandou Founder and CEO.  “Kandou’s Glasswing USR PHY has been designed and built in two generations of silicon.  It provides designers a low risk path to divide large die into smaller, higher yielding pieces and connect them on a multi-chip module with very low power.”

Other customer applications for Glasswing include assembly of ADCs and DACs in older technologies with SoCs in new processes, and creating tiles with long reach SerDes PHYs and logic circuits to separate the LR SerDes from the system chips.

Dr. Shokrollahi’s DAC presentation will focus on the core of Kandou’s innovative signaling method called Chord™ signaling in which correlated signals are sent across more than two wires.  CNRZ-5 is the underlying multi-wire code used for Glasswing and sends 5 bits over 6 correlated wires.  Total bandwidth is 500Gbps (bi-directional) with a native BER of 1E-15.  Measured power consumption for the complete link is ~1pJ/bit
