Telenor Global Services launch new Nordic broadband network

This network is based on the latest generation technology, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM). Customers requiring capacity from 155 Mbit/s upwards between towns and cities in the Nordic countries and Europe or the US will be able to benefit from a new competitive product.
The network has been established in collaboration with the Swedish National Rail Administration, which is using its railway network as the basis for its fibre optic infrastructure. Both Telenor and the National Rail Administration have utilised their existing infrastructure without having to carry out excavation work. This means the network will be extremely cost-effective and can be priced very favourably.
«We are looking forward to offering our customers a new and even more advanced product than before,» says Morten Tengs, managing director of Telenor Global Services AS. «This makes us competitive and links the Nordic countries to our European network and our Trans-Atlantic solutions.»
