Telenor Internet Launches Multimedia Portal: iCanal.no

NORWAY, Feb. 23, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telenor Internet (Nasdaq:TELN) today launches a new multimedia portal, iCanal.no. The portal will be at the forefront of the development of multimedia content on the Internet, focusing on streaming and other multimedia content within the entertainment sector. The next 100 days iCanal will among other things carry live transmissions of the Norwegian version of the "Big Brother" show.

iCanal will also introduce a guide to hundreds of links to video clippings and direct streaming events from all over the world.

In addition iCanal will, in cooperation with several production companies, produce its own programs. These programs will in an initial phase focus on film, music and food.

-- Telenor Internet wants to be a leading player when it comes to
shaping the way Internet is evolving. We will see more and more
multimedia content, says Knut Haakon Nilsen, head of Telenor
Internet. Through iCanal, the viewers or surfers, will be able to
view streamed programs whenever they want, as long as they are
    hooked up to the Internet.

-- iCanal.no is specially designed for those with fast Internet
connection, like ADSL or cable, but also users with ISDN
connection will find this site interesting, says Nilsen.

-- We will pay special attention to Norwegian content, says Else
Ellingsen, in charge of iCanal. - We hope the portal can boost
production of high quality Norwegian content on the Internet.

iCanal will replace the ADSL portal which was introduced in December, to coincide with the rollout of ADSL in Norway. Several of the current services on the ADSL portal will be continued on iCanal, now open at www.icanal.no.
