TGS-NOPEC announces new survey offshore Nigeria

Houston, Texas, May 31, 2002 -- TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company announced today a new non-exclusive 2D seismic survey offshore Nigeria covering blocks OPL 227 and OPL 471. The Ministry of Petroleum Research in Nigeria has granted TGS-NOPEC exclusive rights to acquire multi-client  seismic data over these highly prospective blocks located in shallow waters immediately adjacent to several producing hydrocarbon fields. The project will provide oil companies the opportunity to license and evaluate modern data in advance of a future licensing round.

Designed to tie key wells in close proximity to the unleased blocks; the multi-client program includes 3,400 kilometers of new 2D seismic data acquired with high fold and maximum offsets of 8,000 meters. The seismic vessel Gulf Supplier is currently mobilizing to begin the project. The data will be processed using advanced pre-stack time migration imaging techniques.
