Nokia and Shanghai Cable Network Co., Ltd. sign agreement to deliver Nokia Digital Multimedia Terminals for broadcasting services in Shanghai City


(Shanghai, October 21, 2002) - Nokia and Shanghai Cable Network Co., Ltd. have signed an agreement to deliver Nokia's Digital Multimedia Terminal, the Nokia Mediamaster 8860C to their broadcasting services in Shanghai City. The Nokia Mediamaster solution is based on advanced technologies, enabling digital TV broadcasting and a wide variety of value added services. Those services include: stock market information, interactive news, web page broadcasting and games, in the first phase of launch, and will include more applications such as remote education, home banking and email in the future.

Demand for new, innovative broadcasting related services is a growing trend that is driving China's market todayand Shanghai Cable Network Co., Ltd. is the leading operator for advanced digital TV in China.

The new Nokia Mediamaster 8860C is intended for reception of DVB compliant digital transmissions of television and related standard interactive services in a digital cable TV network. Nokia's Mediamaster 8860C is specifically designed and optimized to support applications and data services according to the Shanghai Cable Network Co., Ltd. specification.
