Jiangsu Telecom and Nokia have signed a contract for the supply of ADSL equipment to enable Jiangsu to further expand its broadband DSL network. Considered one of China’s most open and fast-developing areas, Jiangsu province is located in eastern China. The capital Nan Jing is about 300 kilometers from Shanghai.
Nokia will supply the D500 next-generation multiservice access platform and related services, continuing the two companies' close cooperation. Deliveries already began in October, and Jiangsu is expected to begin commercial roll out during November.
“Broadband service is an important part of our business model and future,” says Lin Jingtao, Deputy Director, Planning and Construction Department, Jiangsu Telecom. “We are making strategic expansions to our DSL system and have chosen Nokia to provide the equipment that will further streamline our roll-out and help us reach our goals.”
“We are particularly pleased that Jiangsu Telecom has chosen our new-generation Nokia D500 access platform as it expands its broadband service,” says Ari Lehtoranta, Vice President, Broadband Systems, Nokia Networks. “Both the Nokia D500 and the Nokia D50 platforms support IP interfaces, which allow Jiangsu Telecom to make the transition from an ATM-based broadband service network to IP-based networks. We are happy to be helping Jiangsu Telecom roll out cost-efficient solutions, and we look forward to doing the same in other Chinese provinces.”
The Nokia D500 Multiservice Access Platform supports ADSL, SHDSL, and VDSL based on a standard DMT chipset. The high-density, high-capacity D500 provides for a wide range of services and is designed to provide operators with the ability to evolve their networks from ATM to IP in a seamless manner, as IP becomes the prevalent protocol in the access network.
Both Nokia D500 and D50 products have been certified by the Ministry of Information Industry for use in China’s national network.
