"We are committed to provide solutions that are adapted to our customers' new consumption patterns, whereby higher downloading speeds are a requirement. With the introduction of broadband telephony, customers will also require higher uploading speeds. We are therefore upgrading the current Telenor Online ADSL portfolio, ensuring that our customers are offered higher speeds without increasing the monthly rates," says Berit Kjøll, Head of Telenor's Consumer Division.
"Today's broadband customers are primarily looking at speed, price and security. By increasing our speeds without altering our prices, and also maintaining the market's most comprehensive security solutions for the Internet, we feel that we have responded to customers' wishes," continues Kjøll.
With the introduction of the new speeds, even customers with the lowest speeds will be able to quickly download or send large files, connect to their job networks, or watch movies through high quality streaming. Higher uploading speeds will also enhance the quality of the broadband telephony service that Telenor launched in March.
Telenor's own surveys reveal that 60 per cent of the customers use the PC for gaming, 60 per cent download music and more than 20 per cent have so far connected their PC to their TV to stream movies. More than 50 per cent of Telenor's ADSL customers spend between 7 and 19 hours on the Internet every week.*
The launch of Telenor's new ADSL portfolio takes place on 1 June. New customers will be able to enjoy the new speeds from that date. Telenor will gradually, and automatically transfer existing customers to the new products, ensuring that all customers are given access to upgraded speeds during the course of 2005.
