Vaisala to provide runway visual range systems for US airports


The runway visual range system is used by air traffic controllers to provide information to pilots on runway visibility in order to secure safer landings. The basic system comprises a visibility sensor, a background luminance meter and a computer. The visibility sensor has been specifically designed for runway applications and follows the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) guidelines.
