Fornebu Norway--(BUSINESS WIRE) September 24th, 2007
News Summary: Telenor Global Services launches a solution enabling mobile operators to access and transport signalling information to the whole GSM world without the need for network interconnection with every other mobile operator.
Telenor Global Services ( TGS ), a leading provider of wholesale carrier services to telecommunications operators worldwide, today announced the launch of GSM Roaming Signalling to efficiently route roaming signalling information globally to other GSM operators where TGS takes care of the physical delivery of signalling information. The service has been in operation for years and is now launched as a product due to an upgrade of the platform with new features.
The GSM Roaming Signalling Service provides access to the global signalling network via multiple routes, all through one single customer connection.
Features include:
- One connection for an operator to send all off its signalling information to any GSM operator connected to the international signalling network.
- A state of the art, fully redundant, carrier grade SCCP platform hosted in a professional carrier environment.
- Global Title translation performed by TGS
- SCCP policing.
- Transfer of SMS and MAP messages
- Global reach - TGS has a reach of more than 500 GSM operators for this service.
As the end users expect to reach any other mobile subscriber in the world, the mobile operators are faced with the challenge to set up routes and enter into formal agreements with other mobile operators globally. TGS takes the burden away by introducing a concept where one connection with TGS gives the mobile operator a global reach without the need for individual agreements or physical interconnect with every other GSM operator, says Bjørn Iversen, CEO in Telenor Global Services.
