Lysaker, 17 November 2004 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): During week 46 there has been considerable precipitation, especially in southern Norway. In total, the precipitation energy during the week amounted to about 6 TWh. A large proportion of this precipitation has come as snow, and has led to the accumulated snow reservoirs being about normal for this time of year. The effective inflow has been 2.6 TWh. This is nearly twice as much as normal for this week. The high inflow has led to the filling level in the Norwegian water reservoirs increasing by 0.6 percentage points. During the period from 1970 to 1999, the filling level has on average decreased by 1.5 percentage points in this week. The Norwegian reservoir filling is now 78.7 percent, which is 6.5 percentage points below normal. In Sweden, the reservoir filling level fell with 0.4 percentage points, and is now 79.2 percent. The prices to end users with standard variable price contracts are still stable. The average announced price for week 49 from the dominating power suppliers in 26 grid areas is 0.353 NOK/kWh. In comparison, the average announced price for the 15 cheapest national power suppliers is 0.324 NOK/kWh. ------------------------------- Contact person at the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate: Marit Lundteigen Fossdal, NVE, tel: +47 2295 9353
