Lysaker, 05 December 2007 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Increased Norwegian power production 3.1 TWh electric power was produced in Norway in week 48. Only in 2005 was the power production higher for this week. The production was 25 percent lower in the same week last year. The increase from last year is mainly caused by higher electricity prices and more water in the reservoirs. The total Norwegian power production is 124.3 TWh so far this year. This is 13.6 TWh more than in the same period of last year, and 4.0 TWh more than the total Norwegian power production of 2006. The inflow to the Norwegian reservoirs was 1.2 TWh (about normal) in week 48. The reservoir level thereby dropped 2.1 percentage points during the week, and was 84.7 percent at the end of week 48. There was some increase in prices at the Nordic power exchange from week 47 to 48. A spot price contract with a 1.9 øre/kWh mark-up, would have given a price of 51.1 øre/kWh for end users in the south of Norway. This is an increase of 0.8 øre from last week. The same contract in the middle and north of Norway would have a price of 51.8 øre/kWh in week 48.
